History

We are a premier institute for grooming the academia, initially set up at Lahore in 1939 by Rai Bahadur Sohan Lal. After the partition of the country, the college was re-established at Ambala City in 1954 and is since then being run by the DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi.

We offer the B.Ed. and M.Ed courses to the individuals who choose academics as their profession and mould them into professional teachers, skilled with the latest tools and techniques.

Rai Bahadur Sohan Lal

Education is a fundamental right in our democracy. But quality education is the motto of the institution. We believe that teaching is an art and a science. With the correct mix of technology and human touch we empower the aspiring teachers to propagate education through the rungs of the society so that they serve the nation while making a satisfying career for themselves.

Sohan Lal DAV College of Education, Ambala City is a pioneering institution of Teacher Education. It has carved a niche in academic and curricular achievements coupled with service to the community. It was set up at Lahore in 1939 by Rai Bahadur Sohan Lal who was himself the founder Principal. Rai Bahadur Sohan Lal was a great author of books on Geography. In recognition of his work he was offered fellowship of Royal Society of Geography and he also was given the title of Rai Bahadur. After the partition of the country, the college was rehabilitated at Ambala City in 1954 and was handed over to the DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi.

The venerable founder Rai Bahadur Sohan Lal had realized that the future of the country lies in the quality education and training of the teachers and teacher educators. Thus this institution stands for the noble cause of reshaping and transforming the Indian society through quality teacher education. The institute strives to maintain the ideals of its founding father and to articulate the ancient vedic wisdom in the modern context.
